When I hired Peter as the vice-president of my computer training company, it was not for his computer skills: he told me that he had used his brother’s Macintosh a couple of times in college, no more experience than that. I hired Peter because I knew he could be a great teacher, and a teacher’s teacher. He had that charm, that presence, that “je ne sais quoi” that make people in class listen, no matter what you’re telling them. Plus he was pretty good-looking, and since about 85% of our customers were women, I thought it could be a good business move…(it was!)
